This is not the first, nor will it be the last time that I step out of my comfort zone.
Writing this blog has been a challenge, with time we also gain hindsight. So it is hard to write about any experience that seemed overwhelming, but in reality, was just a day to day event to muddle through.
My experiences are not exceptional for any person who finds themselves in love with a foreigner. In my case, I may have benefitted from ignorance.
Our differences were vast, age, religion, language and life experience. All I can say is whatever attracts humans on a level that can overcome these differences is STRONG.
Many times I have been asked, "How are you still here?"
All I can say is, I had seen and experienced many things in my earlier life that prepared me for my later journeys. To protect the innocent, some of the names may have been changed. To save me from being found at the bottom of a well, I may or may not have left out some of the details, but the situations I have lived through or been witness to are my truth.
"Not all storms come to disrupt your life, some come to clear your path."
Everything that does not break you, brings you strength.
I had and still enjoy an extraordinary life.
I have never won the lottery, never written a bestseller, I doubt I will be an Olympian or an award-winning actress, so how extraordinary can it be?
For me, the extraordinary has been the people I have had around me, the good and the bad. People have enriched my life with love, joy, support and happiness. Other people have done everything in their power to do the opposite.
Nothing brings me more joy than being able to recall those memories and experiences with laughter, tears and a little sarcasm.
This blog isn't just about my past, it's my present, warts and all, it's my hopes, for a bright future for myself and my family.
I appreciate you wanting to share my experiences, lets laugh, cry and learn from each other.
